Baseball Game Preview: York Cougars vs. Broome Centurions

The York Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Broome Centurions at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Broome took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on York, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when York faced off against Blacksburg on Friday. York blew past Blacksburg 16-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Landon Ayers made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ayers was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, York got a massive performance out of Lem Moss, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Connor Sweatt, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

York always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blacksburg only posted an OBP of .133.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Broome's offense. They fell 5-0 to Clover on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Centurions in their matchups with the Blue Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Broome's loss dropped their record down to 0-2-1. As for York, their record now sits at 2-0.
