McMichael is 8-2 against Morehead since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Phoenix will square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
McMichael came out on top against South Stokes on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Phoenix put the hurt on the Sauras with a sharp 7-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Phoenix in their matchups with the Sauras: they've now won five in a row.

Lindsay Redmon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Harris, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kora Ingle, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, while Morehead put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Reidsville. The Panthers were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Rams. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Like McMichael, Morehead also got a great game from a two-way player: Saillie Aheron. She struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Aheron was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Taylor Hopper was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with six RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Wray, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Morehead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
McMichael's record is now 17-3. As for Morehead, their record now sits at 5-8.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. McMichael has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .517. However, it's not like Morehead struggles in that department as they've averaged .501. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went McMichael's way against Morehead in their previous matchup on Monday, as McMichael made off with a 9-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Phoenix since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
