Baseball Recap: Lone Peak Victorious

Lone Peak lost to Corner Canyon back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Lone Peak came out on top against Corner Canyon by a score of 9-5. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Bowen Barnes was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Landon Fry also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Lone Peak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corner Canyon only posted an OBP of .371.

The win made it two in a row for Lone Peak and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Corner Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lone Peak will be taking part in a tournament against Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Lone Peak's pitchers better be ready for this one: Christian has averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Corner Canyon, they will head out on the road to face off against Ogden at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
