Softball Recap: Cross Stingrays vs. Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cross). They put the hurt on the Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles with a sharp 20-1 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Stingrays, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Savannah Hollings made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Cross got a massive performance out of Sydney Hollings, who scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Hollings has posted since back in April of 2024. Alaysia Hollings also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Cross was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilton Head Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .167.
