Alvin's game  on Tuesday was a  loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them  on Friday. They blew past the Pasadena Memorial Mavericks 3-0. The  win was some much needed relief for the Yellowjackets as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.
 Alvin walked away with the   victory (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23,  25-15.
 Amanda Romero paced Alvin's offense, picking up nine kills. Romero got some help from  Paige Helpenstill and her 32 assists.  Jatara Roland controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Alvin's win bumped their record up to 11-20. As for Pasadena Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 12-18.
 Alvin and Pasadena Memorial could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage  in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Yellowjackets will  face off against  Pearland  at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday with a big rank  disadvantage  (829 vs. 213). Meanwhile,  Pasadena Memorial (ranked 830th) will meet Manvel (ranked 91st)  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
