Softball Game Preview: Graford Rabbits vs. De Leon Bearcats

The Graford Rabbits will head out to square off against the De Leon Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Graford will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Graford got the win against Santo by a conclusive 17-7. Considering the Rabbits have won four games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Trinity Leach made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Lilly Ruddy was a standout: she fired off four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Savahannah Martin, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Graford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, De Leon entered their contest against Bangs on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. De Leon came up short against Bangs, falling 17-2. The Bearcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

De Leon's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Graford, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Graford took their victory against De Leon in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1. Does Graford have another victory up their sleeve, or will De Leon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
