Baseball Recap: South Amboy Finds Home Field Redemption Against North Plainfield

South Amboy's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to North Plainfield on Friday. The Governors came out on top against the Canucks by a score of 5-1. This was a revenge game for the Governors: when they faced off against the Canucks on Wednesday, they had to take a 6-5 defeat.

Micah Nemeth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jeremy Vazquez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double. South Amboy is 3-1 when Vazquez posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Robert Conklin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

South Amboy's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for North Plainfield, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Amboy will head out to take on Woodbridge at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for North Plainfield, they will venture away from home to face off against Plainfield at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
