Softball Recap: Stillwater Beats Cretin-Derham Hall for Their Fifth Straight Win

Stillwater extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 16-3 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-4 back in April.

Stillwater's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ava Volkmann, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Stillwater hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cretin-Derham Hall struck out seven times.

As for Cretin-Derham Hall, they now have a losing record of 8-9. The loss was just more heartbreak for they, who fell 5-3 when the teams last met back in May of 2024.

On Cretin-Derham Hall's side, Camille Castro made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Yaeger, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stillwater will head out to take on Irondale at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Ponies are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Cretin-Derham Hall, they are taking a road trip to challenge Roseville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
