Football Recap: Highlands Wins High-Profile Game Against Scott County

Highlands faced Scott County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bluebirds strolled past the Cardinals with points to spare, taking the game 42-28. 42 seems to be a good number for the Bluebirds as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Tayden Lorenzen was his usual excellent self, rushing for 103 yards and five TDs. Those 103 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Rio Litmer was another key player, throwing for 122 yards and one touchdown while completing 88.9% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Highlands was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Highlands is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points over those games. As for Scott County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.
