Baseball Recap: Polytechnic Extends Winning Streak to Three

It was a proper cat-fight when Polytechnic took on Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary on Monday. The Panthers came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 7-2. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Elijah Ip spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Polytechnic's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Connor Poon, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Poon a new career-high. Luke Phillips was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Polytechnic's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-13.

Coming up, Polytechnic will venture away from home to face off against Flintridge Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, they will be playing at home against Cathedral at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals are facing the Phantoms at the right time seeing as the Phantoms are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
