League recap: Gateway edges St. Cloud in nail biter

Gateway and St. Cloud played the closest game in 7A District 6 this week, with Gateway eventually emerging with a 18-12 victory.

Lake Nona led the league in scoring this week by notching 54 points on Liberty. TUCKER ISRAEL threw for 352 yards and 4 touchdowns and ran for 54 yards in the win.

Lake Nona's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground ANDRE HALE chipped in 120 yards. MEHDI ELATTRACH helped Lake Nona's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 130 yards.

He went 26-32 with 0 interception.

RYAN SOUSA was the best receiver in the league this week as Anthony Paradiso's team topped the Chargers. SOUSA tallied 12 receptions for 151 yards. ELATTRACH helped Lake Nona's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 130 yards.

Lake Nona's ISRAEL and SOUSA led 7A District 6 in both passing and receiving yards. ISRAEL has thrown for 1,418 yards this season, while SOUSA, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 45 catches for 784 yards. Stefano Saragusa from Celebration leads the league in rushing with 484 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lake Nona takes on the Panthers. Lake Nona is in first place, while Gateway is in fifth place.

Marlin Roberts' team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,262 from 7,746. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 18-12 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
