Volleyball Recap: Austin Black Bears vs. Hoover Buccaneers

Austin lost against Hoover back in September of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Austin Black Bears came up short against the Hoover Buccaneers, falling 3-0. The Black Bears haven't had much luck with the Buccaneers recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

While Austin was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-10, 25-23.

Their offense was headlined by Amari Woods and Arden Breedlove, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Maggie Jae Marsh and her 16 assists. Finally, Charlie Barnes kept Austin's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Hoover was led to victory by Sydney Durban and Addison Jenkins. Durban had 22 digs, while Jenkins had 11 digs and 13 assists. Durban has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 23 times she's played.

Austin's loss dropped their record down to 25-13. As for Hoover, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 38-9 record this season.
