Center hasn't had much luck against Del Norte recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Vikings will take on the Tigers at 1:00 p.m.
On Friday, Center came up short against Custer County and fell 3-1. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bobcats 25-21 in the first set.
Center started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 26-24, 25-23, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Del Norte posted their closest win since October 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Sargent 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.
Del Norte took Sargent into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-20, 26-24, 23-25, 15-7.
Del Norte's win came from a few key players Center will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brynley Brown, who had 46 digs, 17 kills, and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Parra, who had 45 digs, 14 kills, and three aces.
Del Norte was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They are 2-1 when they serve at least ten aces.
The victory got Del Norte back to even at 4-4. As for Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
