Recap: Vicksburg Gators vs. Ridgeland Titans

It was a good run, but the Vicksburg Gators unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 77-57 defeat at the hands of Ridgeland. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Ridgeland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Phil Nelson led the charge by scoring 19 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Nelson hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ebo Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 22 rebounds.

Vicksburg's loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5. As for Ridgeland, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vicksburg will square off against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Warren Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Gators are ranked ninth). As for Ridgeland, they will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northwest Rankin is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
