Basketball Recap: Isaiah Cuellar Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Harlingen South

Rivera hadn't done well against Harlingen South recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Rivera Raiders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Harlingen South Hawks, sneaking past 49-47. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Hawks back in January, they had to take a 52-48 defeat.

Rivera's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Cuellar, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. Cuellar has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Andres Rocha, who went 5 of 6 to rack up 10 points and eight boards.

Rivera has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points over those games. As for Harlingen South, their loss dropped their record down to 21-14.
