Basketball Game Preview: Butte County Pirates vs. Mackay Miners

Butte County hasn't had much luck against Mackay recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Butte County Pirates will host the Mackay Miners at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Butte County sitting on three straight victories and Mackay on five.

Last Friday, Butte County took their contest with ease, bagging a 50-18 win over Oakley. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 28 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Mackay strolled past Taylor's Crossing with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 63-49.

Mackay's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Butte County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Butte County suffered a grim 75-53 defeat to Mackay in their previous matchup back in January of 2021. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Butte County was down 37-17.
