Baseball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Lakeland Preparatory

Lakeland Preparatory waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Madison Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jack McDaniel was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Helton, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.

Lakeland Preparatory was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison only posted a batting average of .062.

Lakeland Preparatory's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Madison, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

Looking ahead, Lakeland Preparatory will head out to square off against Peabody at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Madison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Carroll at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. West Carroll has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.36 runs per game on average), something Madison will no doubt try to take advantage of.
