Basketball Recap: Cunningham Comes Up Short

Cunningham was the 39-36 winner over Fairfield when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cunningham Wildcats fell 45-34 to the Fairfield Falcons on Tuesday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fairfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaliyah Baker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenley Fowler, who posted 17 points.

Cunningham's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Fairfield, they moved to 7-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Cunningham and Fairfield could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings. Cunningham (ranked 325th) will meet Norwich (ranked 153rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Fairfield will face off against Attica at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 207 places (293 vs. 86).
