Softball Game Preview: Orange Park Raiders vs. Fleming Island Golden Eagles

Orange Park hasn't had much luck against Fleming Island recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Raiders will face off against the Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Thursday, Orange Park didn't have quite enough to beat Andrew Jackson and fell 8-7.

Zoe Pascoe was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Regan Barnett, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, while it was Fleming Island who put the first runs on the board on Monday, it was Ponte Vedra who put up more. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Sharks by a score of 9-8. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ashlyn Madine made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Jolee Rich was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Fleming Island's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Orange Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Orange Park hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Fleming Island struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Orange Park couldn't quite finish off Fleming Island in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
