Baseball Recap: Camelback Drops Highest Score of Season Against South Mountain

Camelback had lost ten games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-17 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the South Mountain Jaguars 16-6. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Cesar Fernandez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Freddy Romero, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Camelback always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

As for South Mountain, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-19. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 10, 2018, but that streak is no more.

On South Mountain's side, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Bura, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Anthony Zamarron also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
