Recap: Smithville Seminoles vs. Baldwyn Bearcats
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Smithville Seminoles can now relate to. They were outmatched by Baldwyn on the road and fell 45-6. Smithville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-0.
When it comes to explaining why Smithville lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Barker O'Brian. Despite the final result, he rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. O'Brian's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.
Baldwyn got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Terrell Robinson out in front who rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Hastin Nelson was in the mix as well, providing Baldwyn with two touchdowns.
Smithville has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Baldwyn, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Smithville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Baldwyn will look to defend their home field on Friday against Vardaman at 7:00 p.m. Vardaman is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
