Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Great Bend

Great Bend extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 19-6 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Garden City Buffaloes. Considering the Panthers have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Owen Kaiser was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daxton Minton, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Great Bend always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garden City only posted an OBP of .333.

As for Garden City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

On Garden City's side, Drew Strecker and Jakobe Rathbun stepped up to the plate in a big way. Strecker went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Rathbun got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Strecker has become a key player for Garden City: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-14 otherwise.

Great Bend will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Buffaloes: the pair will be back at it again later today.
