Basketball Recap: Rivercrest Colts vs. Harrisburg Hornets
The Rivercrest Colts won against the Harrisburg Hornets last Monday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Rivercrest walked away with a 49-38 victory over the Hornets. The win was nothing new for Rivercrest as they're now sitting on three straight.
Rivercrest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Destiny Burks led the charge by scoring 23 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Burks has scored at least a third of Rivercrest's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakiyah Brownlee, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Rivercrest is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Harrisburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rivercrest will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Seminoles at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Osceola will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Colts are ranked 112th). As for Harrisburg, they will head out on the road to square off against the Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
