Baseball Recap: Auburn Riverside Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Auburn Riverside ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Auburn Trojans. That's two games straight that the Ravens have won by exactly three runs.

Kaeden Morgan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Auburn Riverside let Alex Toth and Cole Svendsen run wild. Toth scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Svendsen went 2-for-4 with one triple and one double. That run was Toth's first of the season. Payton Eklund was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

The win (which was Auburn Riverside's third in a row) raised their record to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Auburn, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Auburn Riverside will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
