Recap: Martin County Tigers vs. Viera Hawks
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Martin County Tigers can now relate to. They took a 72-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Martin County had strong showings from Brandon Brazell, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, and Ari Smith, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Fischer, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Martin County has not been sharp recently as the team has lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Viera, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-10.
Martin County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Viera, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-36 loss vs. South Fork on the 10th.
