Baseball Game Preview: St. Amant Gators vs. Live Oak Eagles

For the second straight game, St. Amant will face off against Live Oak. The Gators are taking a road trip to take on the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, St. Amant didn't have quite enough to beat Live Oak and fell 3-1.

For Live Oak's part, Zant Gurney tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Gurney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Live Oak saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Allen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Live Oak is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for St. Amant, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11-1.
