Basketball Recap: Stone Mountain Comes Up Short

Stone Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the M.L. King Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 54-38 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2022.

M.L. King's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ronald K Collins, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave K Collins a new career-high in assists (two). Calvin Everhart Iii was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine assists.

Stone Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for M.L. King, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.

Stone Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Clayton at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. M.L. King will take on Cristo Rey Atlanta in a holiday battle at at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
