Recap: Portola Tigers vs. Chester Volcanoes

There's no place like home for the Portola Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-56 win over Chester on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Portola to victory, but perhaps none more so than Liam Bowling, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bowling posted eight or more assists. Connor Sheridan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Portola's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Chester, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portola will take on Redding Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chester won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Loyalton at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th.
