Softball Recap: Lowell Finds Home Field Redemption Against Highland

There's no place like home for Lowell, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against the Highland Trojans on Monday as they made off with a 9-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won seven in a row.

Olivia Fuentes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Preslee Hill was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isobella Vaught, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Lowell pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Coming up, Lowell will square off against Munster at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Red Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Highland, they will challenge Hobart at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Brickies have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
