Volleyball Recap: Purchase Line Takes a Loss

Purchase Line was the 3-1 winner over Conemaugh Valley when they last played one another back in August, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Dragons lost 3-0 to the Blue Jays on Monday. The Red Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Purchase Line was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 28-26, 25-22.

Rylee Mahaffey paced Purchase Line's offense, picking up 16 kills. Mahaffey got some help from Bella Cessna and her 25 assists.

Conemaugh Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Mccleester led the charge by getting 26 digs. Mccleester has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Illy Darcangelo, who had 15 digs.

Purchase Line's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Conemaugh Valley, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-12-1.

Purchase Line does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Conemaugh Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy on the 29th.
