Baseball Game Preview: Rotan Yellowhammers vs. Hermleigh Cardinals

Rotan is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Hermleigh Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. Rotan has now lost eight straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 29.

Back in March, Rotan came up short against Northside and fell 17-13.

Elijah Norton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Garcia, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Hermleigh and Roby, and Hermleigh kept the tradition alive. The Cardinals blew past the Lions 15-5 on Friday. The contest marked the Cardinals' most dominant win of the season.

Hermleigh has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Rotan, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
