Softball Recap: Cooper Takes a Loss

Cooper had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-7-1 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Fort Worth Country Day Falcons by a score of 3-2. The Dragons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Fort Worth Country Day, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

For Fort Worth Country Day's part, Madeline Richey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. Richey has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fort Worth Country Day's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Hall, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Cooper does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fort Worth Country Day, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-3 loss against St. John's on the 2nd.
