Volleyball Recap: Athol Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Athol had no problem doing just that on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Pittsfield Generals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since September 23rd.

Athol was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-10, 19-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-8.

Several Generals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alivia Alexander, who had five aces.

Athol's win ended a five-match drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. As for Pittsfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Athol does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pittsfield, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Monument Mountain on the 21st.
