The North Putnam Cougars will challenge the Indian Creek Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
North Putnam was handed a 15-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Fountain Central 7-6. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Jackson Andrews tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of North Putnam's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Griffen Starr was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. North Putnam is 4-1 when Starr posts two or more runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kellen Windmiller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Indian Creek hadn't beaten Martinsville on the road since March 30, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Braves came out on top in a nail-biter against the Artesians, sneaking past 4-2.
Colt DeHart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Indian Creek saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Harden, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Mason Woodke was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Indian Creek's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7. As for North Putnam, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
