Baseball Game Preview: Ridgeview Wolf Pack vs. Kingsburg Vikings

The Ridgeview Wolf Pack will challenge the Kingsburg Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ridgeview comes in on nine and Kingsburg on three.

Ridgeview is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Sanger 10-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolf Pack considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Ben Castro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Mason Refuerzo and Adrian Sanchez did most of the damage at the plate: Refuerzo got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Sanchez went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Sanchez has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Edwin Hidalgo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Ridgeview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Kingsburg never let their opponents score on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Washington Union 1-0. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by just one run.

Kingsburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Garcia, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Ridgeview pushed their record up to 20-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Kingsburg, their win bumped their record up to 21-10.
