The York Falcons will face off against the Warhill Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. York knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Warhill likes a good challenge.
York will bounce into Monday's match after beating Grafton, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Clippers on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Sarah Witt made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits. Witt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leslee Maldonado, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Maldonado is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Bri Petrolia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
York was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Warhill hadn't done well against New Kent recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Trojans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.
Skyler Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Payton Auerbach - GMU was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.
York's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Warhill, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. York has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .531. However, it's not like Warhill struggles in that department as they've averaged .515. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
