MMI Preparatory School fell victim to Lake-Lehman and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 17-0 to the Knights, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The defeat leaves MMI Preparatory School still looking for their first win of the season.
Meanwhile, Wyoming Area made easy work of Greater Nanticoke Area on Tuesday and carried off a 15-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Alexa Gasek made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Addison Gaylord was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and two RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Allison Layland, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Wyoming Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greater Nanticoke Area only posted an OBP of .217.
Wyoming Area's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for MMI Preparatory School, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
MMI Preparatory School might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Wyoming Area in their previous matchup on April 9th. Can MMI Preparatory School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
