Preview: Monta Vista Matadors vs. Cupertino Pioneers
After two games on the road, Monta Vista is heading back home. They will take on The Cupertino Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Monta Vista fell victim to South San Francisco's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Warriors 44-0. Having soared to a lofty 44 points in the game before, Monta Vista couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Cupertino can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Saturday. They blew past Mills 49-10 at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Cupertino's six-point performance the contest before.
Shen Hernandez-ong was on fire: he rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 65 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Sinclair, who gained 41 total yards and two touchdowns.
Monta Vista has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Cupertino, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Monta Vista strolled past Cupertino in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 28-14. Will Monta Vista repeat their success, or does Cupertino have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
