Basketball Recap: Loucas Shoaf's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Oak Grove over Ledford

Oak Grove has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 72-70 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ledford Panthers. The Grizzlies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Oak Grove lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Loucas Shoaf, who posted 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Nunez, who had 15 points and seven boards.

Ledford was led to victory by Adam Grier and Bryson Allred. Grier dropped a double-double on 21 points and 18 rebounds, while Allred dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Grier's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Isaiah Peele was another key player, going 5 of 6 on his way to 11 points.

Oak Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Ledford, their record is now 15-2.

Oak Grove didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-54 victory against North Davidson on the 31st. As for Ledford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 89-50 win against Montgomery Central on the 31st.
