Baseball Game Preview: Maypearl Panthers vs. Rice Bulldogs

Maypearl has gone a perfect 6-0 against Rice recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Maypearl Panthers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Rice Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Maypearl has six straight wins, Rice has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Saturday, Maypearl got the win against Wimberley by a conclusive 8-1. Considering the Panthers have won five games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Rice lost 17-2 to Grandview on Tuesday.

Maypearl pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Rice, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Maypearl's way against Rice in their previous matchup back in March of 2020, as Maypearl made off with a 7-1 win. Will Maypearl repeat their success, or does Rice have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
