South Gate and Sylmar squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but South Gate had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Sylmar Spartans by a score of 61-59. The Rams' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

It was another big night for Andrew Galvez, who went 11-for-17 on his way to 32 points and eight steals for Sylmar. Galvez's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Cymon Millhouse was another key player, going 6-for-11 en route to 18 points.

South Gate's defeat dropped their record down to 4-21. As for Sylmar, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-18.

South Gate does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sylmar, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Sylmar's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
