Basketball Recap: Hampton Hornets vs. McDonough Warhawks
Hampton lost against McDonough back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Hampton Hornets took a 59-45 bruising from the McDonough Warhawks. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Warhawks are ranked 37th).
Hampton's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Richard Azu, who posted 16 points. C J Geiger was another key player, putting up 12 points.
Zion Greene was his usual excellent self, going 8-for-15 on his way to 21 points and seven rebounds for McDonough. The contest was Greene's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Jaelen Kerbo, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 14 points.
