Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jeremiah Oliveras and Eduardo Hernandez Lead Hialeah Gardens to Victory

Hialeah Gardens had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 59-52 victory over the Reagan Bison. This was payback for the Gladiators, who suffered a 62-57 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Hialeah Gardens to victory were Eduardo Hernandez and Jeremiah Oliveras. Hernandez dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Oliveras dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Oliveras has become a key player for the Gladiators: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight boards, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Roy Rousseau, who posted 11 points.

Hialeah Gardens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Reagan lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Chris Ramos, who earned 14 points and six rebounds. David Soriano was another key player, putting up ten points.

Hialeah Gardens' win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Reagan, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Hialeah Gardens has already played their next contest, a 58-54 victory against Hialeah on the 16th. As for Reagan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 91-56 win against Westland Hialeah on the 16th.
