Volleyball Recap: Williamsville Takes a Loss

Williamsville and Athens squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Williamsville had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Athens Warriors by a score of 2-1. The Bullets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Williamsville sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 12-25, 25-19.

Their offense was headlined by Britni Walters and Hannah Holliday, who picked up 13 kills apiece. They got some help from Riley Holliday and her 25 assists. Hannah was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Athens was led to victory by Charlie Lott and Chloe Barrett. Lott had 11 digs, while Barrett had three digs.

Williamsville's defeat dropped their record down to 24-10. As for Athens, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 30-7 record this season.
