Softball Recap: Immokalee Takes a Loss

After flying high against Dunbar last Thursday, Immokalee came back down to earth. Immokalee fell just short of the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls by a score of 9-7 on Friday. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Cowboys/Cowgirls recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Madison Silguero and Sophia Silguero did some serious damage despite the final result: Madison scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Sophia scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Madison a new career-high in doubles (two). Jaylynn Rodriguez was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Immokalee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

Immokalee's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for LaBelle, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7.

Looking ahead, Immokalee will head out on the road to take on Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for LaBelle, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Sebring at 6:30 p.m. LaBelle is on a three-game streak of home wins, Sebring a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
