Soccer Game Preview: Tocoi Creek vs. Nease

The Tocoi Creek Toros will face off against the Nease Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Nease will be up against a hot Tocoi Creek team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. Tocoi Creek's defense stepped up to hand Mount Dora a 4-0 shutout on Friday. Give the Toros' defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

They hit Mount Dora with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Hailey Porterfield (2), Miranda Schwartzberg, and Savannah Malota.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Nease made sure to put some goals up on the board against Fernandina Beach on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 4-0 margin over the Pirates.

Tocoi Creek's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five matches. As for Nease, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3-2 record this season.

Tocoi Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Nease when the teams last played back in November of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tocoi Creek since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
