Basketball Game Preview: Bloomington Purple Raiders vs. Danville Vikings

The Bloomington Purple Raiders will head out to face off against the Danville Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Danville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bloomington, who comes in off a win.

Bloomington was handed a 32-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Centennial 58-56. The win was all the more spectacular given the Purple Raiders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 508th, while the Chargers are ranked 213th).

Meanwhile, Danville came up short against Manual on Tuesday and fell 69-56. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Danville's loss dropped their record down to 9-19. As for Bloomington, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 2-26.

Bloomington suffered a grim 73-48 defeat to Danville in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Bloomington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
