Recap: Hannah-Pamplico Raiders vs. Marion Swamp Foxes
The Hannah-Pamplico Raiders suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. Their rough 68-46 loss to Marion might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Hannah-Pamplico can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while Marion is ranked 38th).
When it comes to explaining why Hannah-Pamplico lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tylin Jenkins. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Franklin Williams was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Hannah-Pamplico struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Marion was led to victory by Jamarius Williams and Jamorius Wilson. Williams scored 13 points along with seven steals, while Wilson scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Williams is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameir Legette, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Hannah-Pamplico and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for Marion, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Hannah-Pamplico will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Richland Northeast at 2:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Richland Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Wednesday. As for Marion, they will head out on the road to take on Lee Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lee Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Monday.
