Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Ganado's 17th in Last 18 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Ganado walked away with it. They never let the Thorndale Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Thursday. Considering the Indians have won 20 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Saylor Bures tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Raelynn Pena, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Palacios, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Ganado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Ganado is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Thorndale, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-7.

Ganado will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
