Football Game Preview: Florence Huskies vs. Banning Lewis Academy Stallions

Two dominant signal callers in Noah Howard and Sam Early are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Florence Huskies will square off against the Banning Lewis Academy Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 939 yards in their previous games.

Banning Lewis Academy will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Florence extended their winning streak to three on Friday. Everything went the Huskies' way against Manitou Springs as they made off with a 42-17 win. The Huskies pushed the score to 36-10 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs cut but never quite recovered from.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Ryan Robinson and Damian Connors. Robinson rushed for 89 yards and one TD on only nine carries while Connors rushed for 74 yards. Those 89 rushing yards gave Robinson a new career-high.

Florence was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 498 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 202 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Banning Lewis Academy). They took down Woodland Park 27-13 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Florence better keep an eye on Jordan Jones. He was instrumental in Banning Lewis Academy's win, picking up 179 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Banning Lewis Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Florence, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Florence against Banning Lewis Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 28-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
